DESCRIPTION

For the first time in its 25-year history, ERS will take on the writing of William Shakespeare. The company has chosen to work on Measure for Measure, one of Shakespeare’s “problem plays” — those works that straddle the line between comedy and tragedy and that often have ambiguous or unresolved conclusions. Director John Collins and the ensemble will, through a series of vocal and physical experiments, develop a high-energy approach that both challenges convention and pays homage to this lyrically complex language.
